If you can afford it , I recommend you put up your own wordpress blog on your own hosting account and domain name. This way you look more professional and you are in charge.

Wordpress.com can and does delete blogs they think are too commercial or spammy. So putting a wordpress blog on your own domain is a lot better long term. Not to mention the fact that you can sell your domain and blog later if you wish.

You don't really own a wordpress.com blog. They do.
