I highly recommend building a niche site and getting traffic before monetizing the site. You will get a lot more people linking to you and coming back if you don't have 5 ads on every page. Sure it is fine to have one ad but if you have a lot of ads people and google don't like it.

So hold your horses and get your site looking good and already getting lots of traffic. Before you start adding multiple ads. It helps you get better rankings and more people will stick around long enough to read your content.

Get some great content up and when you start getting hundreds of visitors a day then you start adding offers to relevant products and services.

Ultimately you want to be giving away a freebie and building a list. The list lets you keep in touch with people over time and if you give them lots of great free content, you become the person they listen to. Now when you tell them about a product, they will trust you. Never burn your list by trying to sell to them constantly. Keep them entertained and informed first so your list grows.

The thing to do is Help People First. If you help enough people, you will be a lot more effective when you promote a great product to them.
